Pakistan Jade

Natural, untreated Type A nephrite, quarried in northern Pakistan and carved one piece at a time.

Where it comes from

The mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan hold some of the world's finest modern nephrite. The deposits worked around Shangla and the Swat-Kohistan belt yield a dense, fine-grained stone in deep spinach-to-forest greens, still recovered in small quantities and finished largely by hand rather than at industrial scale.

Why collectors want it

  • Toughness. Nephrite's interlocking fibrous structure makes it the most durable of the jades, built for daily wear rather than the display case.
  • Luster. That structure takes a soft, waxy, almost oily polish that no treated or imitation stone reproduces convincingly.
  • Color with depth. Rich greens that shift from near-black in the thick sections to translucent olive at the edges.
  • Scarcity. Hand-worked output from a limited number of small mountain operations.

Each bangle is one of a kind and listed with its own measurements. Bangles are sized by inner diameter, so measure across the widest part of your hand with the thumb tucked in and compare that to the diameter on the product page.
