About Jade
What is the difference between jadeite and nephrite?
Jadeite and nephrite are the two true jades — distinct minerals that are both genuine jade, but with different properties. Jadeite is rarer, harder (6.5–7 Mohs), and found commercially only in Guatemala’s Motagua Valley and Myanmar. It comes in a wider range of colors including the legendary Princesa Blue, Lilac, and Imperial Green. Nephrite is tougher (despite being slightly softer at 6–6.5 Mohs), with a characteristic waxy luster, and is found in Canada, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia. At JADEscape, we source and celebrate both. What makes Canadian nephrite special?
British Columbia nephrite is widely regarded as the world’s finest nephrite jade. Our founder was raised in Canada and has a personal, lifelong connection to this stone. We source directly from BC mine operators — selecting rough material ourselves and overseeing manufacturing from stone to finished piece. The result is exceptional quality, guaranteed natural, with full provenance. Read the Canadian Nephrite Guide →
What is Guatemalan jadeite and why is it significant?
Guatemala’s Motagua Valley is the only place on Earth where true jadeite forms in commercial quantities. It was the sacred stone of the ancient Maya civilization and comes in a remarkable range of colors — Traditional Green, Princesa Blue, Lilac, and Black. JADEscape sources directly from Guatemalan artisan partners with deep roots in the jade tradition. Read the Guatemalan Jade Guide →
What other jade varieties are you bringing in?
We are actively expanding our sourcing to include Kazakh nephrite (the jade of the ancient Silk Road), Burmese jadeite (the world’s most coveted jadeite from Myanmar’s Hpakant mines), and Mongolian nephrite (steeped in nomadic and imperial heritage). Authenticity & Quality
Is your jade natural and untreated?
Yes — always. Every piece of jade we sell is 100% natural and untreated. No dyes, no polymer fills (Type B or C treatments), no enhancements of any kind. This is a non-negotiable standard at JADEscape. We believe the stone’s natural beauty is its greatest asset, and we never compromise it.
How do I know the jade is genuine?
We source directly from mine operators and trusted artisan partners with established provenance. For significant pieces, we can provide documentation and, where applicable, gemological certification. If you have questions about a specific piece, contact us and we’ll walk you through the sourcing story and any available documentation.
What is the difference between Type A, B, and C jade?
Type A jade is natural and untreated — only wax polishing is permitted. This is the only type we sell. Type B jade has been bleached and polymer-impregnated to improve appearance. Type C jade has been dyed. Both B and C treatments degrade over time and significantly reduce value. At JADEscape, we sell exclusively Type A jade.
Do you sell other gemstones or jewelry?
Yes. In addition to jade, we carry pearl jewelry and select complementary gemstones. We also offer curated artisan home décor and gourmet goods through our broader ESCAPE PORTFOLIO. All gemstone pieces meet the same natural, untreated standard as our jade.
Shipping & Delivery
How long does shipping take?
Orders typically ship within 1–2 business days. Estimated delivery times after dispatch: US domestic 3–5 business days • International 7–14 business days. Expedited options are available at checkout.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes — we offer free shipping on US orders over $50. International shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight.
How do I track my order?
Once your order ships, you’ll receive a tracking number via email. You can use this to follow your package’s journey. If you have any concerns about your shipment, contact us and we’ll look into it right away.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. We have customers in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond. International orders may be subject to customs duties and import taxes, which are the responsibility of the recipient. We declare all items accurately on customs forms.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused, unworn, and in their original packaging. Because many of our jade pieces are one-of-a-kind or limited, we encourage you to reach out before purchasing if you have any questions — we’re happy to share additional photos, measurements, or details.
How do I start a return?
Contact our team with your order number and reason for return. We’ll provide return instructions and a prepaid shipping label for eligible returns within the US.
Do you offer exchanges?
Yes. If you’d like to exchange a piece, let us know when you initiate your return and we’ll do our best to find the right alternative from our current inventory. Given the nature of natural jade — where no two pieces are identical — we’ll work with you to find something you truly love.
Orders & Payment
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, and Shop Pay. Shop Pay also offers installment payment options for eligible orders.
Can I modify or cancel my order?
Please contact us immediately if you need to modify or cancel. Once an order has shipped, we cannot make changes — but we can initiate a return once it arrives.
Is my payment information secure?
Absolutely. Our store runs on Shopify, which uses industry-standard SSL encryption and PCI-compliant payment processing. We never store your full card details.
Do you restock sold-out items?
Because much of our jade is sourced in limited quantities — and natural jade is by definition non-renewable — many pieces are one-of-a-kind and will not be restocked. When we do restock a style, we announce it to our mailing list first. Sign up for early access to be the first to know.
Caring for Your Jade
How do I clean jade jewelry?
Clean jade gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and steam cleaning — these can damage the stone’s surface or any metal settings. For bangles and carved pieces, a light wipe after wearing is all that’s needed to maintain the natural luster.
How should I store jade?
Store jade pieces separately from other jewelry to prevent scratching. A soft pouch or lined jewelry box is ideal. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, extreme heat, or very dry conditions, which can affect the stone over time.
Can jade be worn every day?
Yes — nephrite in particular is one of the toughest natural stones on Earth, making it ideal for everyday wear including bangles. Jadeite is slightly more brittle and should be treated with a little more care, though it is still a durable stone. Remove jade jewelry before activities that could expose it to sharp impacts or harsh chemicals.
Will jade change color over time?
Natural, untreated jade (Type A) does not change color in the way that treated jade does. Many jade wearers notice that their stone develops a subtle warmth or depth over years of wear — this is called the jade’s “skin” developing, and is considered a sign of a well-loved, genuine stone.
Wholesale & Partnerships
Do you offer wholesale pricing?
Yes. We have a wholesale and trade program for retailers, galleries, and designers who share our values around authenticity and provenance. Contact us to start a conversation about wholesale pricing and minimum order requirements.
Can I carry JADEscape products in my store?
We welcome partnerships with retailers who appreciate the story behind the stone. We look for partners who value natural, untreated jade and can represent the provenance and craftsmanship of our pieces accurately to their customers.
Do you attend trade shows or gem shows?
Yes — we participate in gem shows and live selling events, including appearances in Las Vegas (JOGS) and other major venues. Contact us to find out about upcoming shows where you can see our collection in person.
