The Stone That Stops You

Every bracelet has a centre of gravity. In this one, it is a single banded red and orange carnelian bead — naturally layered with concentric rings of deep red and warm orange, each band a geological record of the stone's formation. Around it, large blue Guatemalan jadeite beads and carnelian beads build the composition outward: cool and warm, ancient Maya jade and one of humanity's oldest gemstones, united by the banded carnelian at the center that makes the whole bracelet make sense.

The Stones

Banded Carnelian — Centre Stone
Banded carnelian — also known as sardonyx carnelian — is among the most visually striking expressions of the chalcedony family. The natural banding here, in deep red and warm orange, forms as silica-rich fluids deposit in alternating layers over geological time, each band slightly different in iron concentration and therefore slightly different in color. The result is a bead that reads as a miniature landscape: layered, warm, and entirely natural. Carnelian has been worn since ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Rome — one of the first gemstones ever used in jewelry. Natural and untreated.

Guatemalan Jadeite — Blue, Large Beads
Blue jadeite from Guatemala — sometimes called "Olmec Blue" — is among the rarest color expressions of the Western Hemisphere's only significant jade source. Dense, vitreous, and deeply colored, with the characteristic glassy luster of fine jadeite. At large bead size, the blue-green tone reads with full intensity, providing a cool, grounding counterpoint to the carnelian's warmth. Natural and untreated.

Carnelian — Round Beads
The carnelian round beads that flank the centre stone carry the same warm orange-red family as the banded focal piece, creating a cohesive warm palette that frames the blue jade and draws the eye back to the banded centre. Translucent and glowing in direct light. Natural and untreated.

Construction

  • Strung on 0.7mm premium stretch cord for a comfortable, slip-on fit
  • Large beads — substantial size for a bold, statement presence on the wrist
  • Blue Guatemalan jadeite and carnelian beads with a banded red-and-orange carnelian centre stone
  • No clasp required — designed for effortless daily wear
  • Handcrafted; one-of-a-kind piece

Wearing It

The banded carnelian centre stone is the element that makes this bracelet a collector's piece rather than simply a beautiful one. The natural banding is unrepeatable — no two banded carnelian beads are identical — and its placement at the centre of the composition gives the bracelet a deliberate, jewel-like quality. The blue jade and carnelian palette is warm-dominant with a cool anchor, pairing naturally with gold hardware and earthy tones. Wear it alone to let the centre stone speak, or stack it with other warm-toned pieces.

Care

  • Remove before swimming, bathing, or heavy exercise to preserve the stretch cord
  • Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth
  • Store flat or loosely coiled — avoid hanging, which can stress the cord over time
  • Natural stones may have minor surface variations; these are not flaws — they are proof of origin

Know Your Stone

What is Type A jade?

TypeA jade is natural, untreated stone — no bleaching, no polymer filling, no dye. It's the collector standard and the only grade we carry at JADEscape.Provenance documentation is available on request.

What is the difference between jadeite and nephrite?

Both are true jade, but different minerals.Jadeite is rarer, harder, and found in vivid colors including ImperialGreen.Nephrite is tougher with a silky texture, ranging from creamy white to deep forest green. We carry both.

What is Imperial Green jade?

ImperialGreen is the most prized color grade in jadeite — a vivid, evenly saturated green produced by trace chromium in the stone's crystal structure.TrueImperialGreen is highly translucent, with a depth of color that seems to glow from within.AtJADEscape, when we carry ImperialGreen material, it is always TypeA — natural and untreated.

How do I care for my jade piece?

Clean with a soft damp cloth and mild soap.Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, harsh chemicals, and prolonged sun exposure.Store separately to prevent scratching. With proper care,Type A jade lasts generations.

Do you provide certificates of authenticity?

At JADEscape, we source directly from the mines and the carvers themselves — our provenance comes from the relationship, not a certificate. The jade certification industry is largely unregulated and most commonly used by resellers. We can tell you exactly where a piece came from, who carved it, and what makes it genuine — because we were there.
