Cool Stone, Hot Accent
Guatemala's jade deposits produce a remarkable range of color — and this bracelet draws from two of its most distinctive expressions. Blue Guatemalan jadeite and grey Guatemalan jadeite, both from the same ancient mountain source, anchor the strand with cool depth and vitreous luster. Against them, red Gobi Desert agate accents from the stone fields of Mongolia introduce a jolt of warmth — deep, fiery, and translucent where the jade is opaque. The contrast is deliberate and striking.
The Stones
Guatemalan Jadeite — Blue
Blue jadeite is among the rarest and most coveted color expressions from Guatemala's jade deposits. The blue-grey to blue-green hues — sometimes called "Olmec Blue" in reference to the ancient Mesoamerican civilizations that prized this stone above all others — come from specific mineral inclusions within the jadeite matrix. Dense, vitreous, and deeply colored, with the characteristic glassy luster that sets jadeite apart. Natural and untreated.
Guatemalan Jadeite — Grey
Grey jadeite from the same Guatemalan deposits offers a cooler, more neutral counterpart to the blue — grounding the composition and allowing the red accents to read with full intensity. Same source, same dense texture and glassy finish, different chromatic register. The two jade tones together create a tonal foundation that is sophisticated without being subdued. Natural and untreated.
Gobi Desert Agate — Red
Red Gobi Desert agates are among the most vivid finds from the Mongolian desert. Their deep, fiery color — ranging from brick red to deep cinnabar — comes from concentrated iron oxide within the silica matrix, developed over millions of years beneath the desert surface. Each bead is translucent and naturally patterned, catching light in a way the opaque jades cannot. Used here as accent beads, they punctuate the cool jade strand with heat and movement. Entirely untreated.

Wearing It
This is a bracelet of strong contrasts — cool and warm, opaque and translucent, ancient Maya jade and Mongolian desert stone. The red agates command attention against the blue-grey jade without overwhelming it, creating a composition that is bold but balanced. It wears beautifully with both silver and gold hardware, and pairs naturally with other jade or agate pieces. For the collector, it is a conversation across two of the world's most storied stone traditions.
Care
- Remove before swimming, bathing, or heavy exercise to preserve the stretch cord
- Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth
- Store flat or loosely coiled — avoid hanging, which can stress the cord over time
- Natural stones may have minor surface variations; these are not flaws — they are proof of origin
